The problem
Why pilings fail first
On the coast, pilings face saltwater, marine growth, rot, and organisms such as shipworms every day of the year — much of it below the waterline, where the damage is hard to see until a structure starts to move. Replacing pilings repeatedly is costly. Protecting them is the more economical long game.

Pile Saver is designed to fit common piling forms and is installed to help protect pilings from the conditions that wear them down. It can be added to a new dock from day one or retrofitted onto existing pilings — often during a repair, while access is already open.
The research
Independent study
An independent study at North Carolina State University examined the Pile Saver system. We describe that research carefully rather than overstating it: the study found the tested system highly effective at preventing surface accumulation of sessile barnacles during the study period. It is not a claim that the product prevents every kind of damage under every condition.
